Happy Almost 4th of July!

Happy holidays to all those celebrating Canada Day (a little late, I know) or the Fourth of July! Sorry Brits ;)

I am enjoying a 2-day weekend (have to work Sunday)and Mrs CB is in Wisconsin attending a music fest. So me and the boys are being lazy slags. I'm not a parade/BBQ type of gal, so I will be having a little celebration here at the castle. Fear not! I did learn my lesson from last year's bash in the Hamptons with [info]theholyinnocent- no naked sparkler waving near the everclear EVER!

I can't decide if I wanna start organizing the basement or drink sangria and work on making vids. I have the 1st in a 3-part Otalia series done and would like to get the other 2 storyboarded this weekend. IDF is only 15 days away, y'all. And no, I cannot allow myself to discuss the current Otalia storyline publically because I am a waffling waffler on where I think it is going. I love the character of Olivia Freaking Spencer too much to not continue her journey. And CC is nice on the eyes. I will only say I am no longer drinking the purple kool-aid, and that I am an adult capable and ALLOWED to have my own thoughts on the matter. Take that as you will.

Okay, I do need to head out and get my hair cut. It is almost one length PAST my shoulders! I need layerage!!!!! Keeping it long now. I look skinnier with longer hair LOL.

Then groceries, then nap time.

Peace out, my peeps and have a happy and SAFE!!! holiday weeekend.

At dentist for root canal. They gave me a bunch of prettay, prettay pills. Just starting to feel a little loopy. Now is. Your chance to ask me all those embarrassing questions that you know you want to ask.

June 16th, 2009

Spent a lovely few days off with Mrs CB. last week. Got vacation plans finalized- she will be joining me for a day or so in NYC after all. Also upgraded phone to a Crackberry Curve. Just waiting for it to get here so I can destroy it. Why the new phone?

I have become a Twitter whore.

During Staycation 2009, I woke up with a toothache. Went to dentist today. Abcessed tooth UNDER a crown, need root canal, possible a NEW crown (my checkbook cringes at me)and I can't get it done til next week. Not happy.

Got super strong vicoden. VERY happy.

New Drink for you all to try:

CB's Sunrise

tequila
vanilla vodka
cointreau
blood orange Italian soda
orange rind for garnish.

It is intoxicatingly refreshing. Seriously!

I have decided on my contribution to IDF 2009. I hope it will be entertaining.

I have a new assignment for [info]ship_manifesto.
Can you guess? I think you can.
Due Sept 29, 2009...10 short days before meeting my girls in NYC.

Come celebrate International Day of Femslash (July 18, 2009) by being a Bad Girl! Fiction, drabbles, poetry, wallpapers, icons, videos...we want it all. Go back and do some time with Helen and Nikki, Denny and Shell, Bodybag and Fenner Karen and add a little something to a wonderful day celebrating femslash.

Need some ideas? I am issuing a "Write Helen and Nikki into Season Four" Challenge. How did Nikki adjust to freedom? What kind of work did Helen find after leaving Larkhall? How did their relationship progress? How low cut were the shirts Helen wore? What?

Want a different prompt? Here is our list of challenges from our days on the block.

Not a writer, artist, vidder but still want to contribute? Go sign up at [info]idof_feedback and pledge to give feedback to all the wonderful people that keep us in femslash goodness throughout the year.

See you July 18, 2009!!!!

Day before vaca fun

What a fabulous freaking day! It is dreary, and hazy here-probably gonna storm like crazy and I don't care :) As of 2:30 pm today, I have four days off. Four FUN-Filled days off, not four sick/appointment filled/hospital trip days off. The first "vacation" in over 6 months. Can ya tell I'm a little excited?

Also, I got my labs back yesterday and I am finally doing better! Anemia is resolved, thyroid under control and Vitamin D is up (still not where we want it, but significantly increased). The Nexium has finally kicked in and the severe reflux/heartburn is diminishing. My breathing is better. I am starting to actually feel like...doing things again. This is so huge, since we have been dealing with this for over a year now.

25 year class reunion coming up. We had a blast at the last one, and I have reconnected with a lot of classmates via Teh Facebook. Looking forward to this one and hoping I can drop a few pounds before mid-August.

And then October...NYC.Cannot wait! Thought I was going by myself, but it looks as though Mrs. CB is gonna crash my bachelor weekend for at least one night. Elderly fun with friends, BPD meetup (I hope), DRINKS!!!!!, food, and hanging with my buddy, [info]theholyinnocent and her librarian.

Okay, enough dreaming, back to saving teh babies and teh childrens...

Have a good day!

Beauty on the asphalt

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
the real me
I’d like to start this post with thanks to everyone who has been asking about my health. I am feeling better than I have in over a year! and that is huge news for both me and Mrs. CB. (It does not necessarily mean that I will clean the bedroom, just sayin!).

And as a PSA- talk to your doc about Vitamin D! Even if you are an outdoor person (especially if you use sunblock) you may not be getting enough. You do not want to become as deficient as I did- we’re talking extreme physical fatigue, brain fog that made it impossible for me to write because I couldn’t find my words, and we are not even gonna get into the breathing issues. Vitamin D is your friend! Okay, now on to some good stuff…

Yesterday evening, Mrs. CB and I made our annual trek to the Columbus Arts Fest. We love going because there are so many awesome displays of art from all over the country. And there is FOOD! On a STICK!!! But first thing was wine stop. I had not had any alcohol in almost 3 weeks as I waited for my stomach to heal…Shiraz FTMFW X2!!!!!

We did our first walk through, scoping out the booths we wanted to re-visit, and picking out what we wanted to eat. After weeks with no appetite, I wanted everything! Mrs. CB started with some pork adobe while I had a gyro and falafel (sp?). We walked around and Mrs. CB ended up with some painted scarf thing and jewelry. I was looking for a new wallet, but nothing caught my eye. Well nothing until we hit the next food court. Corn dog, fries, and deep fried dill pickles (seriously, they are delicious!), wine for me and mojito for the wife, and we were set to watch some local talent performing on stage. But the show we found most interesting was the one that was playing out in front of us under the misting tent.

There were these two adorable kids, I wanna say about 4-5 years old. A little girl and a little boy (we originally thought he was a girl because of his long ponytail) were playing together under the mist. When the music started, they grabbed each other’s hands and started dancing. I am telling you, they were GAZING into each other’s eyes! After that first dance, they held hands the entire time we were there, and even tried to dance the proper way (hands on shoulder, arms extended) but they were both trying to lead. This was the most awesome thing we saw last night. I am usually really shy, even with people I know, but I asked the boy’s dad about them and he was so proud that his little guy “has game”. Everyone was watching them and commenting on how freaking adorable they were. When we got up to leave, I told the boy’s dad to start saving up for a wedding cause we all wanted to be invited. This little scene, filled with innocence and beauty, was all the antidote we needed to heal from all the ugliness and hate we see in the world today. I wish I could have bottled it up and passed it around.

I’m at work till 4:00, saving the babies and the childrens.I am also working on my next Otalia vid which I hope to finish in time for the Solstice Calendar.

You all have a great day!

"Zebras"

A murder in Central Park that involves a tourist puts the SVU on high alert, but when the suspect they've brought in for questioning escapes, Munch has to reach out to an ex-wife in an effort to prevent another killing that's closer to home.

Guest stars: Carol Kane and Nick Stahl

Tonight is about remembering [info]badtyler. Got a favorite BT/MM/Mollie story, share it with us during the "pre-party" before the show.

And because they are fun to revisit, and we had so much fun coming up with them back in the day, we will play by the Old School Drinky Rules )

The last words I had with [info]badtyler was during a Law and Order:SVU "drinky" for the ep where Alex returned.

What better way to remember a friend than by celebrating that which brought us together...snarking on SVU.

Please join me at my lj tonight, staring at 9:30 pm EST [info]cabenson for the season finale of SVU "drinky" in honor of Mollie.

As a few of you know, I have not been feeling so hot for the past week. We thought it was food poisoning, or the flu (not the Bacon Flu tho) but I just kept feeling crappier. I went to work yesterday and the gals convinced me to go see the doc.

I had to see different doc cause mine was full, and she tried for 20 minutes to convince me to go to the ER. When they couldn't get blood cause I was so dehydrated, she finally ordered me to go. She suspected gall baladder or pancreatitis.

When I got there, I told the ER doc that I had broken into a sweat at the office and he ordered an EKG. "Um, have you ever been diagnosed with a cardiac condition?" Haha...yeah, I knew I wasn't going home. I was throwing PVC's like Kerry Wood throws fastballs. Guess that is no longer a "we don't need to worry about that at this time" thing. My K was down so I got a delicious potassium drink (not) and a night in the ER.

I'm home now, on a super bland diet (I!NEED!CAKE!) and just killing time till I can call the office and make the follow up appt with my reg doc. She will either kill me or laugh...it has been that kinda year. I am ooff until Monday and ordered to rest.

Why is it I only crave pizza when I know damn good and well I can't have it?

Poor Mrs. CB...I think she is ready to trade up.

Ahhhhhh...tasty delicious Margarita time!!!!!!

The heating/cooling at work is all fucked up and our section is a wee bit too warm for the delicate flower you all know as Cabenson. So I came home and chilled out with a margarita...YAY!

Update on Daddy#1 is that he is doing wonderfully. I saw him last weekend and even got him outside and walking aroud his garden. I got the lecture about losing weight and getting my BP down and we discussed my attempts at the gluten-free diet in order to help get this breathing thing taken care of. So all around good news there.

And guess what I am doing when I get done with this post? I am working on my drabble challenge request...yes I am! I know! I have 4 vids I need to get going this weekend for various femmeslashy things over the next couple months.

Oh, Otalia! I never thought I would see the day where someone could take Helen Stewart's spot in my femmeslashy heart, but damn, that Olivia Spencer is FINE!

Okay...off to drabble.

Daddy #1 made it through the surgery and is in recovery. They had to do a quadruple by-pass and the main artery going to the heart was almost completely blocked. We are incredibly relieved and we thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. CB is heading out to Prom. I told her not to bring home chlamydia...

I pulled a muscle in my neck...yawning as I got into the shower this morning. Time to break outthe Triple V's.

I am such a whore for all things Otalia. Except the fanfic where the author randomly capitalizes words....can't do it.

I had pizza with pepperoni, shrooms, hot peppers and extra cheese. Guess it will take a few days longer for that acid thing to heal...

The first FIVE people to comment in this post get to request a drabble length fic (i.e., about 100 words) of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this meme in their journal. No one has to post this...I am doing this more as a stress buster than anything else.

Yeah, Fuck the limit, I'll write one for anyone who comments within the next 24 hours unless it gets too crazy. oh, and prompts are sweet too.

Fandoms I am comfortable in: Grey's Anatomy, Bad Girls, LnO:SVU (warning: if you pick Casey, I will kill her), Stargate:SG-1, Army Wives, Otalia, TSCC, FoL. I can try others, but if I am unfamiliar, I may ask you to choose again.

These will be posted as time allows, depending on how things go tomorrow with my dad.

When I was eight years old, my dad (Daddy #1 for those playing the home edition) taught me how to make the perfect pancake. Add a touch of vanilla to the batter, don't over-mix, pour slowly onto the griddle, and patiently wait until the surface was covered with bubbles before flipping.

Throughout my 40-some years, Dad has taught me many wonderful lessons, the most important that you don't need a genetic connection to be considered family. When I was 14 years old, amidst a serious health scare, I learned that Dad was not my biological father. I was crushed. We had a wonderful chat about family and how much we loved each other, and that was really all either of us ever needed to say on the subject. I know that every good thing, little as it may be, that comes out of me is because of him. I get my hair and my wit and my Irish temper from my mother. I get my height and my green eyes from Daddy #3 (the biological father). But I get my wisdom and my desire to treat people well from my Dad. And in my book, that is the greatest gift a parent could give a child.

Dad called me last night to tell me he was having a heart cath today. I just got a call from my stepmom that they are scheduling hi for open-heart surgery tomorrow up in Toledo. And I cannot be there until Sunday evening because it is my weekend to work. One co-worker unexpectedly lost her brother last weekend; another just put her father in hospice care.

So if you are the praying sort, please throw one our way, if you could. We would appreciate it dearly...

Derby Party at friends' house yesterday. Tasty margaritas, barbeque chicken and ribs, roasted corn, baked beans BOURBON CAKE!!! and a derby pool. In our Derby pool, we pay in $5 a horse and pick from a hat (which keeps it fair and VERY entertaining)

Guess who won :) I was barely paying attention cause "Mine the Bird" was such a longshot. Then when we saw that horse coming up the rail, I said "Is that number 8?" I never win! But I did! and now I have $95 worth of lap dances coming the next time Mrs CB goes out of town.

With the exception of being a healthcare worker in the midst of a pandemic flu scare, yesterday was a pretty great day! Seriously people, wash your damn hands.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes and gifties. I laughed and went OMFG! more than I have in quite some time.

Mrs. CB took me to Vino Vino for dinner last night and just as we were ordering dessert, the tornado sirens went off. No one got up to move, cause seriously! I had a a flight of chocolate creme brulees and a cap coming.

Today we are gonna do some shopping. I asked for a headboard for the big girl bed as my birthday gift. Lunch at Marcellas (mmm...meat-a-ball-a sub!) and then off to Whole Foods. This evening is dinner at a friends Derby-style.

I am gonna start my next Otalia vid tomorrow but I think I will be needing the scenes from next week to make the vid the way I want. OMG just get it on, already! CC is just keeeeeeling me! And could JL be ANY cuter?

Okay, off to enjoy my last two bad food days. I am starting my gluten-free diet on Monday. The scope I had done on Monday said the acid damage was getting better, but the breathing was not. Start breathing therapy on Wed...yay! And this new diet will improve my immune system which has taken quite the beating the past 12 months. And I will lose weight YAY!

My head hurts due to a migraine. I have been on a hot dog binge for the last two weeks and I may as well have just poured bottle after bottle of red wine into my system. But they were good...

My nose hurts because I had a scope shoved up it to check my vocal cords again. My breathing hasn't gotten any better so I start breathing therapy next week. It is official: Vocal Cord Dysfunction for the win! Another 3 months for the throat and esophogus to completely heal and I may be human again.

It's Cake Week at my house and I am having German Chocolate cake for dinner. How's that chicken tasting now?

I seriously plan to write up a post about Otalia this week. I promise.
